Writing About Self-Help

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while, and when I say I while I mean years. Yes... years. I waited this long, you know why? because of the same reason that stops a lot of people from sharing their gifts, because of fear. Fear of being criticized, fear of looking stupid, fear of being judged, fear of not being an expert in the field, fear of whatever else you can imagine.

So what changed my mind today to come here to my blog and share? you may ask.
Well... the answer is not simple, or it is...
I've been reading self help books half of my life. One of my dreams was to become a psychologist, long story short of why I didn't become one is because it wasn't approved by my parents. Psychologists are for crazy people. They used to tell me over and over again.

Anyways, now I am here sharing little bits and pieces of  notes I have taken and things I have learned from workshops and classes I've taken, books I've read and summits I've attended in all these years.

Today I found my notes about making new choices and forming new habits:
The first thing in my notes (this is from five years ago or so) is to try different things.
Let's say you want to exercise, to start a regular exercise regimen or routine, you have to start by trying different types of exercise, which I did :)
I tried pilates, cross-fit, stretching, aerobics, yoga. All in my house and I discovered that I felt the best with yoga, which is what I am doing now mostly everyday of the week.

Another thing that I have in my notes is: List your accomplishments. I have to say I really never did this one. But now I do and see how much it really helps.

Get out of your comfort zone. Easy said than done. But not impossible.
When you think about it, getting out of your comfort zone helps you build self confidence.
So how do you do this? And the answer is going to be: Practice. Practice, practice, practice.
But how?
Do something everyday to get out of your comfort zone, even if is something little.
Do it! and you'll see the difference.
You might ask, what did I do to get out of my comfort zone?
I wrote, I journal for myself for quite a long time, until I felt good enough to come to my blog and write which is what I've been wanting to do for a long time and finally have the courage to do it.
