Crochet Jar Cover

First of all let me say Thank you to +The laughing Sheep
for teaching me how to make this awesome crochet jar covers.

In my opinion they are absolutely adorable
and now that I made one,
I am hooked :)

I can make them over and over again.
I have saved so many of those glass jars...

Now that I can make the covers
I can keep on saving them and put them to good use :)

Thank you for visiting my blog :)

Crochet Project From Pinterest

Last week I worked on this project
I saw on Pinterest
the instructions are awesome!

I know my bunting could use
a little more sharpening,
but for making this the first time,
I am happy with it :)

Thanks for visiting my blog :)

#WOYWW 302 My Work Space

Here is what I am working on :)

My mother started teaching me
how to make a rose/flower
out of yarn,
let's see how it turns out :)

The art journal is pretty much my daughter's play :)
she was making her own markers
and the little bit of ink that was leftover in the tube,
I couldn't let her throw it away lol
I ask her to put it in my journal
and I'll play with it later :)

My white organizer is still empty :)
can you believe that!

#WOYWW 301

Yesterday I was determined to clean my craft table
and finally accomplished to reclaim more than half of it lol

I've been wanting to start a new project
something crafty for March for
"National Craft Month"
I started last night,
hopefully I can stick with it
and finish it before the month ends :)

Thanks for visiting :)

Sleepy Crochet Owl Hat

A little while ago my daughter fell in love with this sleepy crochet owl hat

It immediately became a challenge for me. Now you have to see I am a beginner with crochet and couldn't find a tutorial for it.  But thanks to the Crochet Google+ Community ladies it made it possible for me to bring my daughter's little dream come true.

I followed a few tutorials starting with this one from Repeat Crafter Me who has the best one by far in many different sizes, with the difference that the eyes were not sleepy and the ears where different so I followed this tutorial for the eyes without making the mask part, just the eyes. And for the ears I just made two small triangles. Also the blue edge wasn't part of the tutorial so I added a SC (single crochet) with the blue yarn all around the bottom edge.

Here are the final results of my little crochet adventure

With Love,

Romantic Crochet Necklace

I finally put together this crochet necklace that I finished a couple of months ago, I made the flowers following this tutorial and the necklace part with this tutorial here, both are on my Pinterest.

As you can see I got the idea from one of those free flyers at JoAnn Fabrics.

I hope it inspires you :)

Crochet Basket with Link to Tutorial

I am so excited to show you this basket that I made, I worked on it little by little for the last 2 weeks, maybe 20 minutes every night.

It started because I wanted to join this crochet challenge but honestly, for me the basket would end up too tall according to the instructions.
So for me this is good enough I like it, I learned how to make the basket weave and I am very happy with the outcome :)
The only thing I wish is to learn how to make it stiffer, but that would be another post lol

Thanks so much for visiting me :)

Summer Color: Crocheted Sunglass Case

Hello There :)

Here again :) Last night I made another sunglass case, but this one is for my daughter.
Love the coral color she chose, awesome for the summer here in Florida :)

Again I followed the same free pattern here on my Pinterest but this time I started with 8 chains, I used a worsted yarn and crochet hook size F/5 to make a tight stitch so the sunglasses don't get scratched :)

Pretty simple and very easy to make :)

I made it in one night :)

I hope this challenge you to make one for yourself :)

Thanks for visiting my blog :)

Cochet Sunglass Case

I got my second pair of sunglasses since I always forget mine either in the car or at work.

And immediately got to work, I took some leftover yarn that I had and follow this pattern that I saved in my Pinterest.

The pattern is made for a cell phone but I adapted it to my sunglasses, is almost the same, just less chains at the beginning and longer for the sunglasses.  If you decide to make one and need some help just let me know, I'll be glad to help you as much as I can.

Thank you for visiting my blog,

Team Spirit knitted Beanie

My daughter goes to USF and was telling me that she doesn't have anything with the college colors, buying things in college and while going to college can get expensive, so I took the more affordable and entertaining route :)

I knitted a hat using yarn with her college colors

this is a picture she took herself when she got her beanie in the mail, isn't she pretty :)

I didn't have to much yarn left so I wasn't sure it was going to be enough, thank goodness it was.
I think I had about half a skein for it and it worked!

To make it I searched through the internet for a few free patterns and mixed a few instructions here and there, but mostly I used this pattern here to guide specially through the decreases.

Thanks for stopping by and reading my blog :)

Finished Crochet Sunglass Case

Finally!!!
I've been so busy with family over
not only for Thanksgiving but the whole weekend :)
It was actually fun!
So yesterday I caught up with house cleaning,
but today I caught up with my crafts :)

I finally finished my Sister's Christmas Gift
A nice red crocheted sunglass case

Not to worry, she won't know,
because nobody in my family knows about this blog
(I hope lol)

Anyways, you can see the whole process by clicking
here for the first part
here for the second part
here for the next

Now to the process of closing the case
simply backstitch the sides with the same red yarn
and a plastic needle (light blue color)
(they sell those in the same crochet area in the craft stores)

Once both sides are sewn together
flip the case the right way

And close the top
here you can either use a button
or a velcro closure.

I hope you like it.
If you make one please come over and let me know
I would love to see it :)

I am also participating in the link share Wednesday party # 19

Now...

Onto the next project :)

Challenge Day 22 Sunglass Case part 2

I think this picture doesn't do justice
to all the work I put in this little piece of fabric hahaha!

I went to the store to get a red fabric to match my crochet piece
and this one I found is just perfect!
is hard to see in the picture, but it has red and some of that
dark red that the yarn has,
anyways, I do not do good sewing in a sewing machine
at least I think so,
so I am sewing this by hand

but to get it ready, I cut my piece of fabric 1/4" longer than what I need it
and fold that 1/4 by pining it and ironing it
to keep it from moving when I go to sew it :)

It shouldn't take long to do this
if you have all the materials at home
but since I don't do this often
it took me a little while to get it done

but... I did my creative part for today :)

thanks for visiting,

Challenge Day 21 Blocking

Today I decided to try a new technique for me
Blocking

Where you use steam on a crochet or knit item
to either stretch it, make the edges even or simply
just make it look better

The piece has to stay with the pins for a whole day
after steaming it
So I'll check tomorrow for the results :)

thanks for visiting :)

Challenge Day 14 Coasters

I am making this cute little crochet coasters

Here are the instructions:

I started with a magic ring
thenk 8 single crochet(sc) into the ring
join with a slip stitch(sl. st.)

Row 1: Chain 1 and 2 sc into the same st. then 2 sc in each following st
when you get to the last st. join with a sl. st.
Row 2: Ch 1 and 1 sc in the same st. then work *2 sc in the next st. and 1 sc in the next st.* and repeat from * to * then join with a sl. st.
Row 3: ch 1 and 1 sc in the sam st. then work *2sc in the next st, 1 sc in the next two st.* and repeat from * to * then join with a sl. st.
That's it! you are done :)
At the end leave a little yarn to weave through the last row you made for a neater look :)

I hope this encourage you to make your own

Enjoy!

Challenge Day 11 & 12 New Crochet Stitch

(Sigh) I couldn't post yesterday because
my sister came to spend the day with us :)
and since I am making this for her
I couldn't pull it out and take a picture of it

I am working on a new crochet stitch for me
that I found in Pinterest here

It doesn't look quite the same since the yarn is a little bit thicker
than the sample on pinterest
but is coming along good I think

I don't have a lot left to crochet here
but better, since I've been reading a lot about crochet
and know what to do now for a better finished look :)
which I'll share in another post
as my project goes along :)

Thank you for stopping by,
