Writing About Self-Help

This is something I've been wanting to do for a while, and when I say I while I mean years. Yes... years. I waited this long, you know why? because of the same reason that stops a lot of people from sharing their gifts, because of fear. Fear of being criticized, fear of looking stupid, fear of being judged, fear of not being an expert in the field, fear of whatever else you can imagine.

So what changed my mind today to come here to my blog and share? you may ask.
Well... the answer is not simple, or it is...
I've been reading self help books half of my life. One of my dreams was to become a psychologist, long story short of why I didn't become one is because it wasn't approved by my parents. Psychologists are for crazy people. They used to tell me over and over again.

Anyways, now I am here sharing little bits and pieces of  notes I have taken and things I have learned from workshops and classes I've taken, books I've read and summits I've attended in all these years.

Today I found my notes about making new choices and forming new habits:
The first thing in my notes (this is from five years ago or so) is to try different things.
Let's say you want to exercise, to start a regular exercise regimen or routine, you have to start by trying different types of exercise, which I did :)
I tried pilates, cross-fit, stretching, aerobics, yoga. All in my house and I discovered that I felt the best with yoga, which is what I am doing now mostly everyday of the week.

Another thing that I have in my notes is: List your accomplishments. I have to say I really never did this one. But now I do and see how much it really helps.

Get out of your comfort zone. Easy said than done. But not impossible.
When you think about it, getting out of your comfort zone helps you build self confidence.
So how do you do this? And the answer is going to be: Practice. Practice, practice, practice.
But how?
Do something everyday to get out of your comfort zone, even if is something little.
Do it! and you'll see the difference.
You might ask, what did I do to get out of my comfort zone?
I wrote, I journal for myself for quite a long time, until I felt good enough to come to my blog and write which is what I've been wanting to do for a long time and finally have the courage to do it.

Much Love,

Watercolor and Scrapbook Layout

I am so happy I had time to make another scrapbook layout :)
this layout was inspired by Pink Fresh Studio
with this month theme Watercolors,
don't their watercolors look awesome?!

and of course I used my favorite color: Teal

I do have to say that even though the watercolors
look good on the regular 12 x 12 scrapbook paper
I prefer how they look in watercolor paper
plus it doesn't warp as regular paper
well, lesson learned :)

also since I used yellow, black and white
I can also link to Cupcake Inspirations challenge

I wanted to go over the details
I found the perfect colorful scrap paper piece
in my stash to combine with this layout
and of course I had to stamp on it :)

Then on the bottom I used a matted word
which I inked with black around the edges
to match the stamp on the top

Then I used some words that I cut out
of a scrapbook paper background
to scatter around the page

and this one shows you how I matted the picture with two different
scrapbook paper scraps that helps me bring the picture out
with a little cluster on the side using a bubble sticker.

I hope this have been informative and inspiring for some of you :)

Let's see if I can keep this ball rolling
at least until I go back to school
which I know is going to keep me busy :)

and yes, that's me in the picture :D

Hugs

Staying Creative with a Simple Mixed Media Page

I am trying to stay active in my blog
by showing you what am I up to :)

I love to make a variety of things
for some reason I can't stay focus in just one area of art

I love scrapbooking. art journaling, mixed media, you name it.

Today I am sharing a mixed media page
I made yesterday inspired by a few challenge blogs I follow.

I am not the sparkle kind of person
so I looked for a quote since I love to encourage people :)
in combination with

I had to work with black which for me is a hard color to use
but what better way to make sparkles shine even more
than a black background
then splashed some yellow paint by tapping the end of my paintbrush
and let it dry to be able to write with my white pen.

for this one I couldn't resist
I had to add my favorite color: Teal

Pretty simple and that's the point
hoping I can stay creative and active in my blog

Thanks for visiting :)

Dream of Building Community

I dream. I dream awake.

I come home from work and for days now, while I am cooking, washing the dishes, sweeping or whatever else I am doing at home, I catch myself day dreaming, I imagine myself sitting with a laptop (which I don't have) ha ha ha and simply writing about my life and everything I like, all I can think of is writing, coming to my blog and write.

I've been having this thought for a few months now but lately it has been very persistent especially the last few days, so from all the personal growth books, podcasts and summits that I have read and listen to, that's exactly what I have to do.

Write.

I know that a thought that doesn't leave you alone is for a reason, you have to pursue it. You have to follow that instinct. You have to listen to it and do it. For your own sake, for your own sanity :)

I could go write in my journal and write for myself, which I do, but then I don't get the interaction of other people, which I like; plus I am also much faster typing than writing with a pen and paper. Sometimes when I journal in my notebook my hand is not as fast as my brain and most of the time I don't even understand what I wrote since I am doing it so fast to catch up with my thoughts.

Anyways, so here you'll have me, coming to my blog, following my instincts, writing about whatever I have to write that day. Things that I learn, my thoughts, opinions, things that are bugging me in my head ha ha ha, well you get the idea :)

I hope you can come follow me and interact with me in this new journey :)

Feathers - A Connection with Spirituality

I have made a commitment to myself
to do things that I like
in order to discover who I truly am.
Some of you might not even understand that
how can someone not know themselves?
but when you live an overprotected life,
where you were taught to do as is said
and learn how to please everybody else
you kind of loose yourself growing up.
But it got to the point that things change for me
and in my personal growth journey
I came to learn that I needed to know who I truly am
and what I really like to be happy.

So here I am exploring all the things that I like
one step at the time.

Here is art as one of them.
But art can't stay on the paper just to look pretty;
for me it has to mean something
it has to be practical, functional, useful.

I made these feathers

I chose a split complementary color scheme
using blue-violet and blue-green.

Image may contain: text           No automatic alt text available.

Feathers is one of my favorite things
I believe I read somewhere that
feathers represents a connection to spirituality
so just perfect for me

I also made three feathers, using three colors

After spraying the feathers
I decided to fill them up

But I just couldn't leave it on the paper
I had to cut them out and see what would they look like

Pretty I think :)

So here it is keeping me company on my computer desk :)

I would love to see what are you making, writing or reading
leave me a comment to come visit you

Much love,

Clemencia

for some health reason or something lol

I love to learn, and grow
I love to read, write,
and investigate my inner self more and more

I love nature
so I put the little mushrooms there
it was as close as nature as I had in art supplies ha ha ha

and that little stamp says Give Thanks
which is one of the things I always do

I love cultures and languages
so as soon as I saw this scrapbook paper
I had to put it in my little book

Oh my gosh, this is another one that I just love!!!
I love to dance, some latin music baby
oh, I can feel it! ha ha ha

And the last page of my tiny book is that
I love tiny things

Now of course there is a lot more things that I love
like yoga, meditation, doodling, writing, reading...
but I just couldn't fit it in my tiny book
which gives me a great idea of making things that shows others
what do I love and what am I all about :)

Expressing Feelings through Art

For quite a while now I've been looking inwards and asking myself lots of questions about my life, my future, my path, asking for clarity, joy, and true happiness.

I've been reading personal growth and spiritual books, follow therapists and inspiring people online, to learn more about what is it that I really need. Then I come to realize that I've been in this "chasing my dream future" game for too long, I realized that am not living my present and only life to the fullest.

After praying for clarity and meditating, I come to notice that when I follow my instincts things unfold for me in a mysterious but nice way in life. Following my intuition is a practice that I never had until my father past away. That was one of the last thing he told me: Follow your intuition. So I started getting curios about it since then.

Now that I follow my intuition I am starting to crave other things like being creative, which bring me to write this post and share my journey.  I started taking a class online about healing through art and this is my first art journal page of this healing process. Before I started I asked myself a question:

What hurts inside?

then... I asked myself another question which is what I am going to journal about,
this question is personal, like
what makes me happy? what am I grateful for? or like mine was:

How do I want to feel?

Then I went about working on my art journal.

I really didn't have anything in mind to start with I just looked at the blank page and asked myself that question:
How do I want to feel?
I started looking at some magazines and things just started showing up for me.
I didn't glue anything down yet, I just arranged in the page how I liked it and then when I was done cutting things out I moved everything carefully out of my page and did a quick intuitive background. It dried pretty quick so I proceeded to glue things down :)

I feel so much better now :)

Thanks for visiting :)
and this is what's on my workday today :) WOYWW

You Have the Power... a reminder

This is a lesson that I learned and would like to share, especially for all those woman out there who need to get stronger and build their self esteem.

This lesson is about power, is about the power within you.
You have the power within yourself to relax, to get angry and take it out of control, to smile whenever you want to.
You have the power to mange a situation as you need it.
You have the power to love, to forgive, to remember or to stay at peace.
You have the power within myself and take matters into my own hands and do as pleased and do the right thing to remedy a situation.
You have the power to love, to relax, to take action.
The power to use your time appropriately and wisely.
The power to stop and meditate when needed.
The power to take a break and journal.
The power to empower my stressed body.
The power to stop thinking and be present.
You have the power to learn.
The power to talk to yourself.
You have the power within yourself to love and take care of yourself.
You have the power to stop and breath to stop and think.
The power to stop bad habits.
The power to stay in touch, to communicate with others.
The power to belive

And one last reminder,
You have the power to be thankful, and remind yourself of all the things you are grateful for :)

Thanks for visiting :)
I hope this helped you, inspired you and remind you that you do have the power to do, act and feel the way you want to feel.

Love,

Clemencia

Blogging About A Life Full Of Passions

Wow! It has taken me a year to come back to my blog. Nothing better than feeling the desire to do it and take action. A lot has happened in that year, a lot of soul searching, a lot of learning and discovering what am I here for? what's my calling? and, even though I don't have a concrete answer yet, I am just going to follow my intuition. I am going to follow my desires and needs and what I feel like doing at the moment, which some people call... inspired action.

As some of you know I am a wife, a mom, a Cosmetologist (hair dresser and skin care) and a Preschool teacher. I love art, crafts, creativity, self expression through journaling and writing, I like cleaning, organizing, saving money, making my own products and  I like cooking too. I love to read about self help and personal growth. So that's what I am going to be blogging about. A little bit of everything, like the name of my blog says... A Life Full of Passions.

So I invite you to follow along and learn a few things together :)
