Summer Color: Crocheted Sunglass Case

Hello There :)

Here again :) Last night I made another sunglass case, but this one is for my daughter.
Love the coral color she chose, awesome for the summer here in Florida :)

Again I followed the same free pattern here on my Pinterest but this time I started with 8 chains, I used a worsted yarn and crochet hook size F/5 to make a tight stitch so the sunglasses don't get scratched :)

Pretty simple and very easy to make :)

I made it in one night :)

I hope this challenge you to make one for yourself :)

Thanks for visiting my blog :)

ICAD Day 3

Day 3: My Name :)

This is my little art for today :)

I made this with stamps as you can see:

  • spelling my name
  • the typewriter
  • and the swirl
The heart was made with gelatos and a little water on the brush, finished with a black pen to simulate sewing :)

The cup is my own drawing with cheap bic color pens.

And the splashes is made with my homemade sprays.

Hope you like it, I really enjoyed making this and only took me around 15 minutes :)

ICAD week 1 - day 1 and 2

Hello everybody, I found a way to keep my creative juices going
by participating in the Index Card a Day (ICAD) Challenge.
You can get more information if you go the link above and
to the ICAD FAQ which has a lot more details about it.

This is my day 1: Prism

I don't get to do much art lately,
so I made it simple while my daughter was in piano lessons :)

And this is my Day 2: Circus Tent

I really wanted to do more that just a drawing
(I might go back and alter it later-on when I have a little more time)

but for now it will do, we are on Day 3 already
and have to get going :)

Happy making art :)

Words Worth Sharing

While I was waiting at the doctor's office I read something very interesting that impacted my life quite a bit:

Is about a 30 day commitment, spending half hour each day doing something until you get good at it.

So how does this apply to finding my passion?

I would twist this a little bit and saying: commit to do something I like for 30 minutes for 30 days, until I get good at it.  Once I see the results, it will quietly add to my self-esteem.  It will add meaning to my life by mastering all the things that I like and/or always wanted to learn.

Also I read that there is a point when you will start asking yourself:

Why am I doing this?

The answer to yourself will be:

Because I decided to.  That's all!!!. Just put one foot in front of the another and do no stop. That's just how you stick to a commitment. It will increase your self-esteem, adding meaning to your life and reviving yourself.

And you can do the same :)

Find Out Who Are You Meant to Be... with Oprah

I just finished taking a quiz from the Oprah website that I put it aside some time ago, to do it when I have a little more free time.

It says that the quiz helps you figure out what defines you.  And let me tell you, they were right on it with me. There are seven striving styles and I got two of them with the same even highest record.

It says that I am striving to be helpful and I am striving to be creative.  And those are the two things I do want to do the most.  Believe it or not, I told my older daughter about a month ago: "I just want to help people, but at the same time I want to do something creative" maybe teach all the arts and crafts I know.  Is like I knew the answer already, but just reading it again, is like a reminder that this is IN me, I am not making it up, is just who I am.

And I've been feeling stuck because I am not exercising what I like to do, at least not to my fullest potential.

So here I am Clemencia (that's my name) taking a deep breath to start something good and satisfying :)

Here is the link to the quiz in case you want to take it too :)

Feeling Happiness Without Guilt - Sintiendo Felicidad Sin Culpa

As I mentioned before I am always thinking on what my next project is going to be, and like some of us don't get there since you have thoughts of doubt.  But I have realized that when I do what I like, I feel guilty or even worse... I say to myself that I don't have time, I mean this have been going on for a few years now, but how come I have time to clean  the house, wash the dishes, do the laundry, sweep, mop and many other things that my family doesn't even notice?

Have you thought of that?

The guilt or voice inside of me and maybe (or must) come from when we were growing up.  I know my mother was and still tries to be over protective.  That I really wasn't allowed to do much of anything. You won't believe it if I start telling you; which affected my self-esteem.  As a result comes the lack of initiative, inability to make decisions, inexperience in life and extreme shyness if you ask me.

Now, I am not blaming my parents for all this, and I am not mad at them either, that's just life, is the culture where I grew up, and they did the very best they could to keep us healthy and safe.

And if this is your case, just like me, I know this is part of my problem. Now that I know where this voices or thoughts are coming from, and why this negative voice is coming up, now...

I can stop it.
I can fight it.
I can ignore it.

They don't have to restrict me anymore. This negative thoughts can't tell me what to do.  I can finally give myself permission to do what I like without feeling guilty or selfish.

Knowing this we can try it out and start acting and having positive thoughts about what we like to do and actually do it.  Once you do this things you'll feel al that happiness that comes to you :)
